Vote for Jade

I’m Jade, a motivated Engineering undergraduate at Imperial College with extensive extra-curricular involvement and charitable contributions. I am currently the Vice Chair for Comoros Project - Engineering Change.
As a creative thinker, diligent problem solver and effective team player, I hope to continue my efforts in building a better tomorrow through Engineering Change.
With experience in securing sponsorships, tripling membership numbers, creating stunning marketing, and always looking for a new initiative, I’m confident that I can provide successful leadership.

THE PROJECT I STARTED

Building Change

A team of students initiated a collaboration with MAEECHA - a Comorian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).
Due to Comoros’ poverty, large numbers of young people attempt to illegally emigrate to Mayotte (a nearby French colony) each year in search of better opportunities.
The aims are to reduce emigration by designing and constructing student dormitories to enable more of these young people to attend school on one of the islands

THE OUTCOME OF ANOTHER PROJECT

£6000+ raised

I personally raised more than half of the £6000 donated to the Ebo Town Community through initiating sales of second-hand books. The funds provided one-year worth of education to more than 100 children.
The Ebo Town community is one of the poorest communities in The Gambia, with a population of 70,000. It is prone to flooding during the wet season and lacks basic access to good infrastructure. The charity emphasises on improving education in the local community.

Manifesto

Hi, I’m Jade and would love to be your Engineering Change President next year!

Our society is brilliant in so many ways, but I believe it can be even better.

I’ve had a great 3 years at Imperial and here are just some of the things I’ve been up to just this year:

  • Chair of Rail and Transport Society: 2019/20 and 2020/21
  • Vice-Chair of Comoros Project – Engineering Change: 2020/21
  • Founding Harlow Design Ltd – a website design and management company
  • Business Marketing Ambassador for Proprep – an EdTech
  • Part-time Structural Engineer at Geared Consulting Partnerships

With experience in securing sponsorships, tripling membership numbers, creating stunning marketing, and always looking for a new initiative, I’m confident that I can provide successful leadership. Prior to Imperial, I’ve also had relevant experience in organising a charitable project similar to ones with Engineering Change, where I raised more than £6000 for a Community Nursery in Gambia.

My goal for next year is:

  • Better engagement with our members by ‘streamlining’ the social media platforms and websites.
  • Better range of charitable projects by reaching to more organisations.
  • Better social events by creating a supportive committee.
